Syn 1 and Seymour Duncan 170 power amp
Great small rig for studio and live work
I’ve always been a fan of the Egnater and now rebranded Synergy modules and own two of the original M4 units with 8 pre amp modules. The preamps are faithful replications of the classic amp sounds and the COD and Bassman modules in particular are great.
I wanted to find a power amp that was small and would work with the Syn 1 unit and the excellent cut down UAD FX pedals and the Seymour Duncan 170 power amp works brilliantly for this. It will kick out 170 watts and is described as
“The PowerStage 170 will give you reliable, musical power on every gig, eliminating the uncertainty that backline amps can bring. Simply bring your guitar and your pedalboard and get your tone through whatever cab is provided. The 170’s intuitive 3-band analog EQ allows for quickly fine-tuning your sound for any cabinet and any venue—no need to wrestle with the cumbersome and ineffective EQs on digital gear or modify your stompbox settings. Everything you need is right there. You can even adjust the big Master Volume knob with your foot, boosting solos and controlling dynamics in real time. And when you bypass your overdrive and distortion boxes, it will function as your clean channel, with the sweet, warm sound that we associate with great amps.“
I can vouch 100% for the above copy, the 170 works brilliantly with the Syn 1 and all I need to do is plug into an external speaker. I can swap out the modules, so can have whatever amp I want for live work and/or recording.
